We collect the following personal information when you create an account or sign in to the Skill Mint app:

• Name — collected during account registration or provided automatically by your login provider (Google or Apple)
• Email address — collected during account registration or provided automatically by your login provider
• Notification preferences — collected if you opt in to push notifications

1.2 Profile and Preference Data

To personalize your learning experience, you may optionally provide:

• Industry (e.g. Technology, Finance, Healthcare)
• Role or job title (e.g. Software Engineer, Product Manager)
• Experience level (e.g. Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
• Skill topics and preferences you select within the app

1.3 Usage and Activity Data

As you use the App, we automatically collect non-personal usage data, including:

• Drill types practiced (Binary Swipe, Multiple Choice, Fill-in-the-Blanks)
• Exercise interactions and your responses within drills
• Topic and lesson content used for drills (e.g. topic descriptions)
• Practice activity for daily reflections (e.g. topics practiced, time spent)
• Learning progress, skill mastery levels, and performance metrics
• Hearts usage and streak activity
• Assessment results (e.g. Promotion Readiness Calculator, Career Decision Helper scores)

1.4 How We Collect This Data

This data is collected through:

• Account registration — when you sign up with email/password, Google, or Apple
• In-app profile and skill selection — when you set your industry, role, experience level, and preferred skills
• Your use of the App — as you complete practice exercises, drills, reflections, and assessments

1.5 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect phone numbers, profile photos, precise location data, device identifiers, contacts, health data, financial information (other than subscription status managed by Apple), or any biometric data.

2How We Use Your Information

2.1 Personal Data (Name and Email)

We use your personal data to:

• Create and manage your account
• Authenticate you via Sign in with Apple, Google, or email/password
• Deliver push notifications through Apple Push Notification service (APNs), if you opt in
• Provide customer support and respond to your inquiries
• Send important service updates (e.g. changes to our terms or policies)
• Send marketing communications (only if you opt in; you may opt out at any time)

2.2 Profile and Preference Data

We use your profile information to:

• Personalize your learning path with role- and industry-specific content
• Recommend skills and topics relevant to your career goals
• Adjust drill difficulty based on your experience level

2.3 Usage and Activity Data

We use non-personal usage data to:

• Track your progress, streaks, and skill mastery levels
• Power the adaptive learning engine that adjusts content to your performance
• Generate AI-powered career development content, including drill scenarios, personalized feedback, and coaching responses (see Section 4 for details on what data is sent to OpenAI)
• Provide performance analytics and learning insights
• Improve the App's features, content quality, and overall user experience

3Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate and improve our App:

We require all third-party providers to protect any data we share with them with the same or equal protection as described in this Privacy Policy. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.

4AI-Powered Features and OpenAI

Skill Mint uses OpenAI's API solely to generate career development content for you. This includes drill scenarios, personalized feedback on your responses, and coaching suggestions.

We require OpenAI to protect this data with the same or equal protection as described in this Privacy Policy, including by contract where applicable. OpenAI's API data usage policies prohibit using API inputs to train their models.

Before the App sends any data to OpenAI for the first time, you are presented with an in-app consent disclosure explaining what data is shared and how it is used.

5Authentication and Login

You may create an account and log in using any of the following methods:

• Email and password — you provide your name, email, and a password directly
• Sign in with Google — Google shares your name and email address with us upon your authorization
• Sign in with Apple — Apple shares your name and email address (or a private relay email) with us upon your authorization

Regardless of login method, we only collect your name and email address. We do not access your contacts, photos, or any other data from your Google or Apple account.

Your password (if using email/password login) is handled securely by our authentication provider (Supabase) and is never stored in plain text.

6Subscriptions and Payments

Skill Mint offers a free tier and an optional premium subscription. Premium subscriptions are processed entirely through the Apple App Store's in-app purchase system.

• We do not collect, process, or store any payment card details, billing addresses, or financial information
• Apple handles all payment processing, receipts, and subscription management
• We only receive confirmation of your subscription status (active or inactive) from Apple to unlock premium features

7Push Notifications

If you opt in, we send push notifications through Apple Push Notification service (APNs) to help you stay on track with your learning. Notifications may include:

• Daily practice reminders
• Streak maintenance alerts
• Achievement and milestone notifications

Push notifications are entirely optional. You can enable or disable them at any time through your device's Settings. We do not use push notifications for third-party advertising.

8Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website (skillmint.app) uses cookies and similar technologies to:

• Maintain session state and enhance website functionality
• Collect anonymous usage analytics via Google Analytics (e.g. page views, session duration, general engagement metrics)
• Deliver relevant content based on your browsing context

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies. The mobile App uses local device storage to save your preferences and offline content, but does not use tracking cookies.

9Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share data in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers — with the third-party services listed in Section 3, strictly to operate the App and provide its features. Each provider receives only the minimum data necessary for its function.
• Legal requirements — if required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request
• Safety — to protect the rights, safety, or property of Skill Mint, our users, or the public, as required or permitted by law

We require all third-party providers to protect any data we share with them with the same or equal protection as described in this Privacy Policy.

10User-Generated Content

Skill Mint does not currently support user-generated content such as public comments, posts, forums, or shared responses within the App.

Your drill responses and reflection entries are private to your account and are used solely to generate personalized feedback and track your progress. They are not visible to other users.

11Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal data and usage data only as long as your account is active and as necessary to provide our services. Specifically:

• Account data (name, email) — retained while your account is active
• Usage and activity data (progress, responses, reflections) — retained while your account is active to power your learning experience
• Data sent to OpenAI — not stored by OpenAI after processing; API data is not used by OpenAI for model training

When your account is deleted, we remove all of your personal data from our systems. Anonymized, aggregated data that cannot be used to identify you may be retained for analytical purposes.

You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time by contacting us at support@skillmint.app. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

12Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) for all communications between the App and our servers
• Secure authentication via Supabase with hashed password storage
• Access controls limiting data access to authorized personnel and systems only
• No personally identifiable information included in AI API calls

While we strive to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to following industry best practices.

13Children's Privacy

Skill Mint is designed for professionals and is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@skillmint.app.

14Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction — request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete data
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated personal data
• Opt out of notifications — disable push notifications at any time through your device Settings
• Opt out of marketing — unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link provided in each email
• Data portability — request your data in a portable format where technically feasible

15International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, where our third-party service providers (such as Supabase, OpenAI, and Google) operate. We ensure that any such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, including contractual obligations requiring the same or equal level of data protection as described in this Privacy Policy.

16Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, features, or legal requirements. When we make material changes:

• We will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page
• We will notify you via the App or email for significant changes
• The updated policy will be available at skillmint.app/privacy-policy

Your continued use of Skill Mint after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
